I never find a lack of inspiration for my work. Sometimes I consider my pots people and they take on different personalities and body types. Ideas come from people passing by, people I know, and often myself.

I am also inspired by nature, especially the landscape where I live and places I visit. I grew up in the West Virginia mountains whose seasonal colors continue to be palpable in my work. I spend a lot of time on North Carolina's Crystal Coast beaches. The sun and moonlight playing across the water inspire mixes of colors and movement in my pots. Living in Arizona for several years, I was constantly amazed by the sunsets, red rock formations and the desert completely exploding with color and life in the spring. My pots are the desert in bloom.

Nature's colors and the human form combine to become my pottery.
